  • DescPsychological comedy NOTHING TO HIDE is my debut feature, set in the Western suburbs of Minnesota and targeting a June 2027 shoot. Starring Dylan Gelula, Nothing to Hide is a story about the entanglements of family, home, and sisterhood, wrapped in a deliciously funny single-day bachelorette party setting. The Grand Prize winner of ISA’s 2025 Cannes Table Read, Nothing to Hide is a recipient of Explore Minnesota / Film North’s 10K Stories grant. A project with deep cultural resonance and a Cannes- and Emmy-winning team, we’re championing LGBTQ+ stories and combating gender disparity on- and off- camera (see the Annenberg 2026 report for stats), and providing paid opportunities for queer youth in partnership with the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota. With massive indie prestige market potential, we’re targeting a 2028 Sundance premiere.ription text goes here

  • NOTHING TO HIDE is rooted in my personal experiences, and immerses us in the idiosyncrasies of the specific place I’m from. At the same time, as our world becomes increasingly isolated, and our societies more polarized, I believe we desperately need examples of navigating complicated relationships and cultural divides. People from around the world have seen themselves in this script, and shared with me their own experiences of code-switching, estrangement, and belonging.

  • OK! But have you spoken with your financial planner, CPA, or money-savvy friends? In any tax bracket, if you itemize your taxes, a charitable donation reduces what you owe to the government. In other words, instead of paying the government, you can choose to support something meaningful to you (or to your community).

  • No! I’m not taking any salary. I’m working more than full-time on NOTHING TO HIDE, supporting myself and my partner with several years of savings from my qualitative research “survival work” (and picking up gigs whenever I can). Your money will only be spent once production is greenlit. 6% will directly support FilmNorth’s projects and 94% will support job creation and local businesses during the production and post-production of NOTHING TO HIDE.

  • No :) Everyone on set is being paid equitably: all crew makes the same rate, and all cast earns the same SAG rate. My own fee will barely make a dent in supporting my survival, but a first feature is an enormous step toward a sustainable career in filmmaking. Your donation is an investment in the people who will come together to make this film, and an investment in my future prospects as a job-creating director for years to come.

  • Yes. Instead of going to film school, I self-funded shorts over the last 12 years and engaged in thousands of hours of unpaid work to build relationships and skills. In doing so, I’ve created dozens of paid positions, spending over $100,000 of my own savings to create the bedrock material for a career in film. I’m excited to finally bring other people into this machine, and your support directly supports new jobs, and a hugely positive and resonant cultural product.

IMPACT

GENDER PARITY

he 2025 Annenberg Inclusion Initiative reported only 9 of 100 top-grossing films last year were directed by women. On screen, audiences were nearly twice as likely to see male characters than female ones — only a third of speaking parts were female. Our project is written and helmed by non-binary femme and women creators and producers, and the film stars a dynamic ensemble of authentic and complex women.

LGBTQIA+ REPRESENTATION

In 2023, GLAAD reported only 28% of films from major studios featured an LGBTQIA+ character, and more than half of those characters had less than five minutes on screen. Few features are set in Minnesota, and even fewer champion a LGBTQIA+ protagonist. Helmed by queer creatives and producers, “Nothing to Hide” centers queer folks in production, cast, and representation.

MINNESOTA’S ECONOMY

The production of “Nothing to Hide” will bring $750K to Minnesota, whose arts communities and economy are recovering from the 2026 ICE surge. Eldest Daughter is committed to recruiting LGBTQIA+ crew, local non-profit Quorum will help identify queer businesses (e.g. craft services), and OutFront MN and PFund are project allies.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

In partnership with the MN Women’s Foundation, we are excited to offer Minnesota-based LGBTQ+, girls/women, and nonbinary creatives aged 16-24 the opportunity to gain film industry experience on the upcoming production of Minnesota-based feature film “Nothing To Hide.” This funded opportunity will give emerging filmmakers hands-on learning in production and post-production, allowing participants to develop new skills, and contribute meaningfully on a feature film set.
